Learn to form, rivet and embellish a copper frame for a Swarovski Crystal Element. Explore a variety of Metalsmithing techniques: 1) using Wubbers Mandrel Pliers to form the copper frame, 2) texturing and stamping the frame, 3) forming the bail, connectors, and bead charms and 4) punching holes in corners, while mastering riveting the easy way with the new Riveting Essentials tools developed by the instructor. Students will leave class with a sparkly pendant (with custom bail) and the skills to confidently rivet using the Riveting Essentials system.

Celebration Pendant

Explore Metalsmithing techniques of sawing/piercing, texturing and stamping metal, while mastering traditional riveting the easy way with the new Riveting Essentials tools developed by the instructor. Students will embellish their tree with colored discs celebrating those important birthdays and anniversaries, and will leave class with a funky pendant and a firm foundation of sawing and riveting skills.

Metalsmithing 1-2-3
 Learn the basics of metalsmithing in this day-long class of cutting, texturing, soldering and cold-connecting metal.  Create a multi-layer pendant featuring a soldered bezel. Cut, form and solder the bezel portion of the piece. Add some texture and cold connect it to the base. Choose from multiple techniques for adding the bail. A swim in Liver of Sulphur, a trip through the tumbler and wear your pendant home. Techniques learned in this class offer endless possibilities for future projects. This class uses a butane torch.

Soldered Collage

Here’s an opportunity to learn the basics of soldering (or refresh your skills) while creating a collage of wire and sheet metal elements. We’ll start by cutting a base shape from sheet metal. Form elements from sheet metal and heavy gauge wire. Now it’s time to learn to safely use a small butane torch to solder the elements to the base.  Add extra bling by soldering a bezel cup to the piece and setting a gemstone cabochon.  Add some texture and stamping and wear your pendant home. Techniques learned in this class offer endless possibilities for future projects. This class uses a butane torch.

Pretty As A Flower 

In this introduction to soldering with a butane torch, students learn to form and solder jump rings into a flower and then kick it up a notch with some simple embellishments. Class discussion will include not only the many uses of this component, but also the many design and modification possibilities to create one-of-a-kind components. In addition to the fundamentals of soldering, students will learn to safely use a butane torch and to set up a safe soldering station at home. Students will also be introduced to some basic metalworking techniques, such as using a disc cutter, texturing and a low-tech cold connection, that are easily transferred to other metalworking projects.

Fiesta Necklace:  Intro to Fine Silver Fusing

Rock ‘N Roll Necklace

Learn the basics of Fine Silver Fusing and Riveting.  Learn to connect your fused links to form a chain.  Next, cut, texture and drill sheet metal to create the centerpiece for your necklace.  Learn to make headpins and how to use them for riveting, as well as traditional wire rivets.  Add that last bit of bling by riveting a bezel cup to the centerpiece and setting a gemstone.  Finally, attach the leather cord and wear your Rock ‘N Roll Necklace home.  This class utilizes a butane torch.

This introduction to soldering covers the basics of sweat soldering. In addition to soldering a Sterling Silver shape to the copper disc, a pre-made bezel will be attached and a gemstone cabochon set.  Additional interest is added with design/letter/number stamps and hole punching pliers. And last, but not least, learn a simple method of tube riveting. This class utilizes a butane torch.

Copper Washers from the hardware store plus a new riveting tool equals a cute new set of earrings and a matching pendant.  We’ll texture and stamp the washers. A new riveting tool makes adding the embellishments quick and foolproof. A prong-set CZ adds that extra bit of bling. Create some stamped and bead charms for the pendant, add some ear wires to the earrings and you are ready for your party. In this introductory class, we will explore cutting and texturing metal.  We will follow that with some easy-peasy embellishments using pre-made rivets, miniature screw, wire and bead. Punch some holes, add a bail or ear wires, and wear your creation home.

Come dip your toes in the metal pond and see what all the ruckus is!!

Fine Silver Fusing

In this class you will learn the basics of Fine Silver Fusing.  You will make your own head pins and develop the skills necessary to construct a bracelet from fused fine silver links.

We will fuse the links and shape them into circle, oval, square and heart shaped links.  We will use multiple techniques to texture the links.  Options for joining the links to form a bracelet will be covered along with forming your own clasp.  We will look at ways to patina and polish your links.  You can decorate your bracelet with beads and/or charms using the headpins you will make in class.  There will also be time to explore earring design ideas. This class utilizes a butane torch.

Heavy Metal Necklace

Do you want to learn to work with heavy gauge wire? Want to learn to create uniform links? This is the class for you. Some simple hand tools will make the job easier. Come use the instructor's tools and fall in love with heavy gauge wire. Bend, twist, form and embellish wire to create all the elements for this necklace. Learn to twist wire to create your own heavy gauge twisted wire. Add the silk ribbon to make the necklace any length desired. Slip this Heavy Metal Necklace over your head and wear it home.
